BHP Billiton – Iron Ore

Engineering mechanical design, materials handling expertise, civil, structural across most sites, including:

Newman

  • Transfer chutes installation, patented transfer chute design provides a rotable design, which provided an increased capacity, full flow control, eliminated blockages, reduced chute and belt wear, spillage and dust;
  • Ore body 18 train load-out tunnel;
  • Upgrade of the existing train load-out facilities;
  • Design of secondary crushing building;
  • Structural steel & concrete remediation;
  • LV bridge capacity study and upgrade.

Mining Area C

  • Design of Screening Building;
  • Transfer Stations;
  • Conveyor trusses, trestles, footings;
  • Modifications of existing structures;
  • Preliminary design and budget estimates for various structures.

Finucane Island

  • Developed a sample bag retrieval station including conceptualised design and implementation for receiving ore samples from Finucane Island to Nelson Point via utilising return side of new tunnel conveyor;
  • Optimised conveyor chute and transfer design which involved the redesign of new conveyor head chutes and drive arrangements for optimum flow, reducing wear and subsequent down time;
  • Crusher oil dust seals blowers on all crushers in tertiary crusher building;
  • Improved the design of belt feeders to allow easier maintenance of idlers and cold splice of the conveyor belt whilst also providing improvement in spillage and access. Included installation of jacking and pulling points, new skirt arrangement, methodology and feasibility of procedure;
  • Beneficiation plant feed upgrade;
  • Upgrade of conveyor brakes and redesign of conveyor drives to install new brake units to existing conveyors.
